Male Minors Suffer Gunshot Injuries in Separate Incidents on STX

Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that took place Monday, leaving two minors injured on St. Croix.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at about 2:07 p.m. July 13, the 911 emergency call center received a report of a gunshot victim at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. Officers made contact with a 15-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to his back, fracturing his ribs.

The victim was uncooperative, declining to give police any details about what happened.

While police were at the hospital, a second gunshot victim, a 16-year-old male, was brought in by a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the right leg. That victim reported that he had been sitting at a tree stump in Harbor View Apartments when a masked gunman shot him and fled the area.

A witness stated that the gunman was dressed in all black clothing.

Police urged anyone with any information about either of these shootings to contact police by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
