St. Thomas Man Charged with Grand Larceny

A 50-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested Monday and charged with grand larceny, the V.I. Police reported.

According to the police report, at about 3:58 p.m. Monday police arrested Ashmore Hyndman Jr. of Estate Bovoni and charged him in a theft.

Police said Hyndman was observed on video surveillance stealing more than $7,000 in used car batteries from a business on April 1.

Bail for Hyndman was set at $20,000 by order of the Superior Court. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
