One-Car Vehicle Accident Leaves Driver Injured

A man was seriously injured Thursday in an automobile accident that took place on the Melvin Evans Highway near the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility on St. Croix, according to the V.I. Police Department.

At 5:36 p.m. Thursday the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers from the Traffic Investigation Bureau to a one-car collision that occurred in the westbound lane of the Melvin Evans Highway, in the vicinity of the Golden Grove.

At the scene officers found an overturned white Mercedes Benz SUV and a male individual laying in the roadway with serious injuries. Investigation say the driver of the vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over.

The driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle in the accident. He was reportedly in stable condition at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center as of Friday afternoon.

This accident is under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Bureau.
