Police Release Name of Garden Street Shooting Victim

The name of the victim of a fatal shooting that took place Friday near Garden Street in Charlotte Amalie was released Monday by the V.I. Police Department.

According to VIPD the victim was identified by next of kin as 39-year-old Jamal Jacobs.

The police reported that at around 8:29 a.m. Friday the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in the Garden Street area. Officers were dispatched and subsequently found a male lying face down in the roadway. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene said the man did not have any vital signs.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to call 911, the major crimes unit at 340-774-2211 ext. 5606 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
