A man was shot to death Friday morning in the Garden Street area of St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The man’s name was not listed by police pending notification of next of kin. According to the Source homicide list* it was the 10th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 18th in the territory.
According to police, at around 8:29 a.m. Friday the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in the Garden Street area. Officers were dispatched, and subsequently found a black male lying face down in the roadway. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical technicians on the scene said the man did not have any vital signs.
This case is presently under investigation. Police urged anyone with information about the incident to call 911, the major crime unit at 340-774-2211 extension 5606, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
