Attempted Rape Reported Near Bovoni

Police are investigating a report of an attempted rape that took place at roughly 11:45 p.m. Saturday near the Bovoni Community Housing area.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the female victim reported that while in a vehicle with a male friend, she declined his sexual advances. According to the victim, the suspect then attempted to force himself upon her, and a scuffle ensued. The victim told police she was assaulted and was able to exit the vehicle before the suspect then left the area.

The victim sustained injuries in the incident and was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information about the case call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5608, or Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
