My Brother’s Workshop (MBW) has partnered with local government agencies, businesses and other nonprofits during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide meals and essential supplies to seniors, homeless, displaced school children, those with compromised immune systems and families with medical or special needs.
MBW’s long standing partnerships in the community and their actions after Hurricane Irma have put them in a position to stand in the gap for these vulnerable groups while avoiding duplicating response efforts.
MBW Cafe and Bakery stands ready to prepare 200-300 meals daily through their “Meals on Wheels” program on St. Thomas beginning March 24. Their workshops on St. Thomas and St. Croix will engage in distributions on a needs basis in order to help the territory’s most vulnerable population. The health and well-being of these individuals remains MBW’s primary objective.
Donations of essential supplies can be donated at MBW’s St. Thomas location. The supplies they are requesting are toilet paper, paper towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, bars of soap, trail mix bars, Ensure, adult diapers, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. These supplies will then be distributed in accordance with health guidelines by MBW teams to those in need.
MBW has partnered on this initiative with St. Thomas Reformed Church, HMRT, Lutheran Social Services of the V.I., XO Energy, Cancer Support V.I, Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, Chicken ‘n Bowling, Tap and Still, Plaza Extra Tutu, Moe’s Fresh Market, Catholic Charities V.I. and the Office of Senator Javan James.
