STT Woman Reports Sexual Assault

At 4 p.m. Saturday police were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center after receiving a report that a woman was being treated in reference to a reported sexual assault.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the victim, whose name was not released in accordance with department policy, reported that while with friends in the area of Fruit Stand, she was approached by a person familiar to her. She said while departing the area, the man attempted to talk to her, but she dismissed him and continued home.

She said she locked and secured her residence before going to bed, and subsequently awakened to the same male intruder in her room. She said that she pushed him off and ran to a nearby apartment.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to call 911, the Domestic Violence Unit at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
