The V.I. Police Department on Saturday morning found a body floating in the water at Good Hope Beach. The body was found to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the police reported.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 28-year-old Jahkim E. Santiago.

According to the Source homicide list, it was the third homicide on St Croix since the beginning of the year, the eighth in the territory. The Source homicide list is based on VIPD reports, but unlike the VIPD list and those in other media, the Source list does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, sometimes leading to a variance in the totals.

According to the police report, at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday the 911 emergency call center was notified of a body floating in the water at Good Hope Beach. Officers responded and found a lifeless male in the water. When the body, later identified as Santiago, was retrieved from the water, detectives found that the male had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
