Police Believe Woman Found Dead Was a Traffic Fatality

The V.I. Police Department Tuesday morning found the body of a woman who is believed to have been the victim of a traffic accident.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 60-year-old Valerie Tyson Clarke.

According to police, at around 6:41 a.m. Tuesday the 911 emergency call center received a report of an unresponsive female lying on the roadway in Hospital Ground. Officers were dispatched and they found the female in the Estate Thomas residential community.

Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed the victim had no vital signs.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Bureau as a possible pedestrian accident, police said. An autopsy is pending to confirm cause of death.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to call 911, the Traffic Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
