A man and a woman were shot near noon Saturday at Estate Nadir on St. Thomas, and the man died of his injury, the V.I. Police Department reported. There was no report on the condition of the woman as of 8 p.m. Saturday.
No information was given on the identity of either victim or any details on the shooting.
According to the Source homicide list, it was the 14th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 36th in the territory. (The Source homicide list is based on police reports but, unlike the VIPD list and those in other media, does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, so the total number of incidents may vary.)
According to police, the 911 center received a call about the incident at 11:58 a.m. Saturday.
“A male and a female were shot in this incident,” the early police report said. “The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no immediate status of the female victim’s condition.”
The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the VIPD said at 8 p.m. Saturday, adding that more information will be forthcoming as details become available.
