ALERT: Road Work — Main Street and Crown Bay Enhancements

Department of Public Works ALERT for Road Work

The V.I. Department of Public Works has issued a Road Work Alert for St. Thomas. The Main Street Enhancement Project will begin on Monday, Sept. 30; it will continue until further notice.

Key Facts:
The current road closure on the first block of Main Street will extend to Store Tvaer Gade (corner of Palm Passage).

Motorists will no longer be able to turn right onto Main Street from Guttets Gade (First Bank Road) because one-way traffic will now resume heading west.

Motorists will be allowed to traverse on Store Tvaer Gade heading towards Veterans Drive or turn right onto Main Street (at I-Levin) heading west.

During this detour, no parking will be allowed on Main Street. Temporary parking will be available on Store Tvaer Gade for deliveries only.

Project Scope: Strip asphalt, expose subgrade and existing utilities, connect east and west water mains, connect east and west drainage, connect lighting and irrigation, complete sewer manhole, place concrete slab and euro-cobbles, WAPA water 12″ stub installation, potable waterlines installation.

Total estimated cost of project: $13,325,162
