A major electrical service interruption is affecting all customers in the St. Thomas St. John district resulting from the loss of all generating capacity at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on Friday. This is the latest in a series of recent plant failures. According to the V.I. Water and Power Authority, the outage at noon initially involved four feeders however, as additional generation capacity was lost, the service interruption affected more customers. Plant personnel are working to rebuild generation capacity so as to re-energize the power plant, and begin the restoration of service to all customers.
The plant has experienced multiple failures in the past month, leading to repeated outages on St. Thomas.
