V.I. Port Authority Demolishes Kline Building

Virgin Islands demolishes Kline Building.

The Virgin Islands Port Authority is demolishing the former Kline Building located adjacent to Crown Bay Center on St. Thomas. This is the first of a series of demolitions planned for several derelict buildings owned by the Port Authority in the district.

The removal of the unsightly structures is in line with the Authority’s vision to revitalize the district for residents’ and visitors’ enjoyment. The demolition is being performed by Cross Island Builders (selected by a competitive bidding process) at a cost of $247,489.20 and should be completed by the end of this week.

The Port Authority is in the process of acquiring permits to demolish its other dilapidated and hurricane-damaged properties territory-wide.
