Leroy Dewitt Edwards Sr. Dies at 74

Leroy Dewitt Edwards Sr.

Leroy Dewitt Edwards Sr., aka “TC” or “Top Cat,” of Estate Sion Farm died on Aug. 1. He was 74 years old.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Meta Benjamin; father, George “Casper” Edwards; and grandson, Dave Edwards Jr.

He is survived by wife, Cora Edwards; daughters: Sheryl Lewis, Patricia Joseph and Gwendolyn Murray; sons: Dave Edwards Sr., Michael Edwards Sr., Leroy Dewitt Edwards Jr. and Padget Green; grandchildren: Sheneba, Keyona, Keira, Michael Jr., Davante, Keondre, Jequoy, Jeremiah, Kenisha, Kenya, Keyana, Cory, Kenya, Kenneth and Vitanya; adopted grandchildren: Jeaneique and Ja’yomi; and great-grandchildren: Emari, Shakeel, Kali, Tiyannah, Ta’sean, Kenya Jr. and Kymani.

He is also survived by sisters: Evelyn Joseph, Joycelyn Charles and Norma Charles; brothers: Lancing Charles and Sylvester Edwards; nieces: Kimberly Edwards Locke, Jamila Charles, Keisha Charles Warren, Monique Charles Maguire, Sonia Jeorges and Syenne Charles; nephews: Shawn Edwards, Corey Edwards, Casey Edwards, Andre Ashfield, Vaughn Tuitt, Errol Tuitt, Marlon Charles and Ian Charles; seven great nieces; nine great nephews; aunt, Joan Benjamin McQuarry; uncle, Everett Benjamin; and daughters-in-law: Denise Christian Edwards, Indera Edwards, Elda Green and Jeaneil Smith.

Other survivors include sons-in-law: Jefry Lewis, Kenneth Joseph and Tony Murray; brothers-in-law: Everton Charles and Charles Green; sisters-in-law: Octavia Green, Beatrice Michelle, Ionie Appleton and Mona Thomas; godchild, Renee Payne; special friends: Soloman, Mash, Biggs, Statchel and Monica; cousins and other relatives: the Edwards, Green, Benjamin, Thomas, Murray, Charles, Mcquarry, Terry, Payne and Georges families; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, at St. John’s Anglican Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
