Police Find Woman’s Body in Locked Car

The body of a woman was found shortly after midnight Saturday in a locked car in the Sunny Isle Shopping Center parking lot, the V.I. Police Department reported. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

According to police, at 11:36 a.m. Friday a man at the Ancilmo Marshal Command in Christiansted reported his wife missing. The man told police the last time he saw his wife was around 9 a.m. Thursday, when he left the house. When he returned she was gone, he said.

He told police his wife is an alcoholic and sometimes go on binges.

At about 12:36 a.m. Saturday, a Ranger American Security guard noticed a beige Infinity QX4 SUV parked in the parking lot close by the guard booth in the middle of the parking lot. While walking by the guard observed someone in the driver’s seat . The guard struck the window and no one responded, so he called 911.

Officers responded to the call from the 911 dispatch and saw a woman whose body was in full decomposition sitting in the SUV’s drivers seat.

The VIPD body repair/wrecker operator was called and he unlocked the vehicle. The woman was removed from the SUV and transported to Gov. Juan Luis F. Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased was identified by her husband as 47-year old Elizabeth Shaller.

The cause of death is unknown pending the medical examiners’ finding.
