Education to Launch Cloud-Based System to Simplify Application Process

Virgin Islands Department of Education

On Monday, June 24, the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) Division of Human Resources, in partnership with the GVI Division of Personnel, will migrate to a new online human resource management system that will “significantly streamline the job search and application process by allowing job seekers to create a user profile to submit applications and attachments electronically, as opposed to the current manual process,” according to VIDE Human Resources Director Nicole Jacobs.

The new system is made possible through NEOGOV, the nation’s largest provider of cloud-based human resource software for the public sector.

Through NEOGOV technology via the VIDE’s website, www.vide.vi, job seekers will also have the ability to apply for vacancies and create job-interest notifications. Jacobs said the job-interest feature is particularly helpful in that it will automatically notify applicants whenever the Department posts positions within their areas of interest.

Jacobs explained that the new system is expected to allow hiring managers and other stakeholders by quickly and strategically assessing the skills of applicants using an electronic-sort mechanism. This feature, she said, “will reduce administrative work, thereby increasing human resource staff efficiency and expansion of services to its clients.”

Kurell Hodge, strategic and organizational development officer for the Division of Personnel, has been instrumental in guiding VIDE through the transition to the new technology.

“The Division is very pleased with how the product has improved the hiring and selection process for the central government and looks forward to VIDE reaping the same benefits,” Hodge said.

DOE joins more than 1,300 organizations nationwide who have moved to the forefront of cloud technology for public-sector human resource management by partnering with NEOGOV.
