Police on St. Thomas arrested 37-year-old Lineras Warrell on a Superior Court warrant Tuesday, charging him with five counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm after a cache of weapons were seized at his premises.
According to the V.I. Police Department, the arrest took place at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday.
Additional charges include possession of an unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon/assault rifle), possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon assault rifle), possession of an unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon), possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm(s) within 1,000 ft of school zone/private youth center, three counts of possession of unlicensed ammunition, alteration of identifying marks/obliterated serial number, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
All charges were based on a search warrant conducted on his residence, police said. Warrell was unable to post the $100,000 bail, so he was processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
