Man Shot While Backing into His Driveway

A man was treated at Schneider Regional Medical Center Tuesday after he was shot several times while in his car, backing into his apartment’s parking spot, according to the V.I. Police Department.

At 10:28 p.m. Tuesday the 911 dispatcher received a call about shots being fired in the area of Goat Street – Prindsens Gade – and that a male in a vehicle was the victim.

According to police, officers at the scene made contact with the victim, who was found in the vehicle’s driver’s seat. The victim was not identified by police, in accordance with department policy.

The victim told people he was backing into his residential parking lot space when an unknown black male opened fire on him. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds about the body. The victim was transported by ambulance to the SRMC for medical treatment.

This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579, or the anonymous tip services, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
