A new reader poll has named the Butler Bay wrecks, off Butler Bay, north of Frederiksted, the number one dive spot in the Caribbean.
In the most recent entry in the paper’s “10Best” series of travel and lifestyle polls, readers picked Butler Bay No. 1, followed by the Wreck of the RMS Rhone in the British Virgin Islands.
According to USA Today, Melanie Reffes and Kristin Valette-Wirth of PADI were chosen as experts to put together a list of 20 locations based on their knowledge of the Caribbean. Then the 20 nominees were put to the readers to pick the top 10.
The top 10, in order, are:
1: Butler Bay Wrecks – St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
2: Wreck of the RMS Rhone – British Virgin Islands.
3: Turks Island Passage – Salt Cay, Turks and Caicos.
4: Bianca C โ Grenada.
5: Klein Bonaire โ Bonaire.
6: The Andros Wall โ Bahamas.
7: Superior Producer โ Curaรงao.
8: Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park โ Grenada.
9: Sisters Rocks – Carriacou, Grenadines.
10: M.V. Maverick – Tobago.

Must add that the writers did not go far enough West. The 2500′ Wall at Glovers Atoll off Belize must certainly rank high – it is still pristine.
