V.I. Department of Human Services Dispels SNAP Rumors

The V.I. Department of Human Services informs customers that they are not required to spend all their SNAP benefits by Jan. 31, 2019. Clients are reminded and encouraged to budget their SNAP benefits because no additional benefits will be issued in the month of February to clients who received the early issuance of benefits in January 2019.

Please note the following tips to help customers manage their budget.
• Prepare and eat first the food that already exists in your home.
• Know the amount of SNAP benefits that’s available to purchase food.
• Plan meals that will provide the most economical value while meeting basic nutritional needs for the household.
• Make a shopping list and purchase groceries according to plan
