More commissioners have pulled the plug a few weeks early in the last days of outgoing Gov. Kenneth Mapp’s administration. Mapp announced Thursday Mapp he has appointed Denise Lewis as acting director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency and Joyce Dore-Griffin as acting director of the Department of Tourism, effective immediately. He announced Jason Marsh will be acting police commissioner.
Marsh replaces Delroy Richards, Lewis replaces Mona Barnes and Dore-Griffin replaces Beverly Nicholson-Doty, who have all resigned early.
They join new and likely very short term appointments of Hilarie Baker as acting director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Joseph Ponteen as acting attorney general, replacing Julio Rhymer and Claude Walker, respectively. Traditionally, when a new governor takes office he fills the top agency positions with his or her own picks. Incoming Gov.-elect Albert Bryan takes office in less than two weeks, with his inauguration scheduled for Jan. 7.
Next Sharon McCollum, Felicia Blyden, Michelle of Dept Health, and sweep all dem out.
