Reacting to a 911 call about a man with a hand gun, the V.I. Police on Thursday arrested 26-year-old Abdul Pemberton on firearm charges.
According to the police report, at about 6:49 p.m. Thursday, 911 received a call reporting that a black male wearing a green shirt and with “starter locks,” had a hand gun at the Tide Village Gas Station on St. Croix.
Officers from the Marshall Command Police Station responded along with other units and contacted the black male, identified as Pemberton. Officers retrieved a black Glock 30, .45 Caliber pistol with one loaded magazine and one round chambered. They also recovered a fully loaded magazine with 10 rounds, a total of 20 live rounds, and a black ski mask.
Pemberton was charged with carrying a firearm, openly or concealed, along with possession or sale of ammunition, possession of a firearm within a 1,000 feet of a school, and contempt of court. At a hearing Friday the magistrate found there was probable cause for his arrest.
Bail was set at $50,000. Pemberton was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center.
