Police on STX Charge Man with Domestic Violence

Jose DeJesus Perez, 38, was arrested Thursday evening and charged with domestic violence, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The police report that at around 12:44 a.m. Thursday a woman walked into the Wilbur Francis Command in Frederiksted and said a male acquaintance, identified by the police as Perez, had choked and slammed her to the ground.

At 6:35 p.m. officers contacted Perez placed him under arrest. He was charged with second-degree assault and simple assault and battery/domestic violence.

No bail was set as per the territory’s domestic violence statute. Perez was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
