Joseph A. Sprauve Sr., better known as “Joemeat,” died at his residence on March 5 at age 86.
Joseph A. Sprauve Sr. is survived by his sons: Wayne, Julien A. and Kristopher Sprauve; daughters: Jacqueline A. and Jewel A. Sprauve, Monique Sprauve Fleming and JerriLyn A. Sprauve; sisters: Agatha Sprauve, Adina Sprauve Petersen and Alma O. Sprauve; and grandchildren: Kameece Krieger Bailey, Chrystal C. Todman, JeRiise M. and JeCole M. Hansen, JoVanio A., JoVanii A., Jonell, Jaunte, Jalen, Jeremy N.O. and Quentin X.A. Sprauve, Kyu A. Matthews, and Jennifer, Angelique, Kristopher and Kyle Fleming.
He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Chrysean T. Prince, Jahziah A. Ottley, Journie A. J. and Jaxon A. Sprauve; brothers-in-law: Elroy Petersen, Edgar D. and Hal Mitchell; son-in-law, Kerry Fleming; daughters-in-law: Lydia Monrose Sprauve and Charmine Sprauve; nieces and nephews: Joyce, Anthony and Leayle Hatchett, Edgar D. III, Kenya, Ken Allen and Netta Mitchell, Mia Mitchell Dalcour, Keith and Karen Almestica, Kelvin Carolyn and Coreen Parson; and numerous other relatives, godchildren and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend the first viewing from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at the Celestial Chapel — Hurley Funeral Home. The second viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 23, at Christ Church Methodist, Market Square. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
