Man Killed in Red Hook Shooting

A man was killed early Sunday after shots were fired in a parking lot in the Red Hook area, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Next of kin identified the victim as 27-year-old Rudolph Rudell Maduro. It was the 20th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 38th in the territory.

According to police, at 1:32 a.m. Sunday a citizen called 911 to report multiple shots fired in Red the Hook area. A man appeared to be down, according to the caller.

The victim was transported to Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

The major crime unit traveled to the Schneider Regional Medical Center and found an unresponsive black male with what appeared have multiple gunshots wounds to his body.

Police urged anyone with information to call 911, the VIPD at 340-774-2211, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers V.I., at 1-800-222-8477.
