Dolphins vs Stingrays at Swimming Federation’s Long Course Championships

Swimmers take off at Long Course Championships.

The 2017 Virgin Islands Swimming Federation Long Course Championships were held on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12 on St. Croix.  More than 200 spectators enjoyed the two-day long course championships when 105 athletes from the St. Croix Dolphins and the St. Thomas Stingrays competed.  The swimmers ranged in ages from six years old to 37 years old.  Each swimmer competed in a maximum of three individual events and two relays each day; there were six age group categories, split up by gender.  These age groups were 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, and 18 and over.  Below are the top three individual point scorers in each age group.

St Croix Dolphins team at V.I. Swimming Federation Meet against St Thomas Stingrays

The V.I. Swimming Federation’s next event will be in Nassau, Bahamas, April 15-18, for the Carifta Swimming Championships. Seventeen swimmers have qualified to represent the Virgin Islands in these championships. The National Swim Team consists of the following swimmers: Audrey Moore, Erin Andrews, Lindsay Barr, Gabriela Brunt, Erin Hughes, Natalia Kuipers, Carter Maltby, Fairley Maltby, Brianna Mattis, Kyra Odlum, Victoria Sperber, Casey Vanderwall, Webster Bozzo, Jaidan Camacho, Michael Dizon Bumann, Ky Odlum and Max Wilson.
