The Environmental Association St. Thomas -St. John (EAST) invites the public to participate in its annual whale watches on Sunday, March 5 and Saturday, March 11. A UVI marine science expert will lead the group as it looks for humpback whales during their seasonal migration in waters around the Virgin Islands. Enjoy a day at sea with a snorkeling adventure in a cove, while watching for sea turtles, sting rays and maybe a dolphin sighting along the way.
The cost is $75 for adults and $65 for youth under 18, students and educators with IDs. Tickets available are online at http://eastvi.org/whale-watching/ or at Anna’s Market on Donoe Bypass Road, East End Secretarial Services in Red Hook or Forever Flowers in Frenchtown. Since space is limited, people should make reservations as soon as possible.
The vessel will leave at 8 a.m. from the Yacht Haven/WICO finger pier dock and return about 3 p.m. It will sail west past Saba Rock on a look out for humpback whale sightings, then sailing over to Turtle Cove for a light lunch. Complementary juice and water will be provided during the trip. Snorkeling equipment will be available for a brief swim to see more marine life for a wonderful ending of a day at sea.
