Man Killed in Pearson Gardens

De’Moi Corraspe, 27, was shot and killed late Wednesday afternoon at the Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community.

It was the fifth homicide on St. Thomas, and in the territory, since the beginning of the year.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday the 911 call center received a report of several shots fired in the area of Building 21 of the housing community. Responding officers arrived at the site and found the body of a black man lying face down in what appeared to police to be a pool of blood.

The victim appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds about his upper body. He was later identified by next of kin as Corraspe.

Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call the VIPD at 340-774-2211, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8447.
