The annual IAA/McDonald’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Varsity Basketball Invitational Tournament kicks off on St. Thomas Friday at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School gym.
The tournament, sponsored by St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association (IAA) and V.I. Department of Education, will host high school teams from Charlotte Amalie, Ivanna Eudora Kean, V.I. Montessori School and Peter Gruber International Academy, Antilles and Gift Hill School on the St. Thomas-St. John side, along with Central High and Educational Complex from St. Croix.
Visiting teams also include Elmore Stoutt High School, Bregado Flax Educational Center and V.I. School of Technical Studies from the British Virgin Islands. Overall, the field includes 10 male and six female teams.
Tournament games begin at 4 p.m. Friday and run through Monday. Saturday and Sunday games begin at 9 a.m.
The championship games are begin at 10 a.m. Monday, starting with the girls and ending with the boys.
