Police Chief, Club Owners Meet to Plan Crime-Free Holiday

St. Croix Police Chief Winsbut McFarlande met with promoters and nightclub owners Monday to discuss the V.I. Police Department’s operation plan for the holiday season, focusing on non-violence activities.

The group reported that the police presence from late-night patrols implemented few months ago by the Special Operation Bureau have been "extremely good for business," according to a Tuesday news release from the VIPD.

Enforcement Director Juan Rodriquez of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources discussed requirements for establishment licensed to sell liquor. Chief Steven Webster of the Department of Health’s Enforcement Division talked about the Virgin Islands Smoke-free Act and how to report violations.

Fire Marshal Johnnie Frontal and Sgt. Tamaram Lezema from Virgin Islands Fire Services stressed the importance to the nightclub owners and promoters to be aware of occupancy laws and fire hazards in the establishments.
