Car Plunges into Charlotte Amalie Harbor

A car went into the Charlotte Amalie harbor Tuesday morning and had to be fished out, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday officers responded to the Veterans Drive waterfront on a report of a vehicle that had gone into the water. Officers made contact with a male individual, whose name was not released by the police. He told them he had been the only passenger in the car, a 2001 Lexus S300/L, when it went into the water.

The V.I. Port Authority, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, and V.I. Police divers aided the recovery.

The vehicle was towed by Sherwayne Wrecker Service and the driver was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center by officers for treatment.
