Police Find Body, Suspect Suicide

The homicide Task Force of the V.I. Police Department is investigating an apparent suicide discovered late Monday.

According to the VIPD, at approximately 11:23 pm. the 911 emergency call center received a report of a possible suicide at a Smith Bay residence. The Homicide Task Force responded and discovered a white male hanging in the entrance to his bedroom.

The name of the deceased has not been released by police because the next of kin had not been notified as of noon Tuesday.

In its news release, the department added police appreciate the community’s support and continues to ask for calls and tips curbing crime. Any persons with information regarding this incident or any other crime can call 340-774-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous top service, Crime Stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
