Man Found Shot in the Street

A man was treated for a gunshot injury at the Schneider Regional Medical Center after he was found on the streets of Charlotte Amalie shortly after midnight Saturday.

According to the V.I. Police Department, a citizen called the 911 emergency center at 12:05 a.m. Saturday to report a gunshot victim down in the vicinity of the Dronningens Gade roadway area.

Responding officers found the victim lying on the ground. He had sustained a single gunshot wound to his lower back that exited his abdominal area. He was transported to Schneider by ambulance and was rushed into surgery.

The V.I. Police news release did not have an update on his condition as of Saturday afternoon.

This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information to call the bureau at 340-77 42211, or call 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers V.I., at 1-800-222-8477.
