Man Drowns at Independence Boat Yard

A man whose identity was not released drowned Friday evening at the Independence Boat Yard in Frydenhoj, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, officers were alerted to a possible drowning at 5:44 p.m.. Arriving at the boat yard, they found emergency medical technicians attending to an unresponsive white male who was lying face up on an orange flat board.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene and transported to the morgue at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The identity of the deceased was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
