The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the public and residents that the Melvin Evans Highways Wastewater Line Rehabilitation Project will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
This project includes the replacement of a deteriorated 10-inch line, installation of a new wastewater gravity line and connection of the new line to existing manholes. The project contract has been awarded to Rotating Equipment Corporation in the amount of $84,691.
The project will begin just north of the Melvin Evans Highways and run south under the highway near the open field in the Estate Profit area. West bound traffic just west of the Diageo stoplight will be reduced to one lane for about 2,000 feet before returning to two lanes.
Motorists are asked to reduce their vehicular speed and to proceed with caution in the area.
The Melvin Evans Rehabilitation Project represents the continuing efforts of the VIWMA to upgrade the aged wastewater infrastructure in the territory. VIWMA anticipates completion within three weeks.
