VIWMA Experiences Solid Waste Collection Delays

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority advise St. Thomas residents that due to a mechanical issue with the authority’s solid waste collection truck, waste collection was delayed in the Hospital Ground, Paul M. Pearson Garden, Oswald Harris Court, Estate Thomas and Contant areas.
VIWMA’s collection truck is not back in service. Today, the solid waste staff along with its contractors worked extended hours to address the collection backlog as quickly as possible. Once the collection backlog is fully addressed VIWMA will resume its regular daily service of in-house collection sites.
Each public bin is pulled at least once daily as a part of VIWMA’s service schedule. House to house or curbside collection is conducted once weekly according to collection zones.
