Community Music Inc. Cancels Jazz in the Park Due to Finances

Community Music Inc. (CMI) informs the friends, patrons and supporters of Jazz in the Park that the concert scheduled for Friday, Aug. 26, has been canceled due to insufficient funds. The organization looks forward to its next scheduled concert date and the funds necessary to produce it.
Community Music Inc. sincerely thanks the public for its past and continued support. In the early months of 2012, Eddie Russell (one of the premiere jazz trumpeters in the Caribbean) and a small group of volunteers started this project on St. Croix and the first Jazz in the Park concert took place. Every month since then the non-profit has produced a free concert on the lawn of the National Park Service (NPS) next to the beautiful Fort Christiansvaern.
The reason it has not asked for donations during the concerts is because they take part on NPS property, and CMI is not allowed to collect or sell anything to raise the $1,200 each month that it takes to produce the concerts. Thus, raising money to support the efforts of these great performances has been a challenge.
CMI is now into its fourth year still depending on the donations of individuals and businesses to cover the productions. It needs to find another way to fund the concerts yearly instead of struggling each month.
If there are any jazz lovers who have ideas to help raise funds for Jazz in the Park, please contact Eddie Russell (277-3914 or eddierussellmusic@gmail.com) or mail a personal donation to:
