Man Injured in Smith Bay Stabbing

A man was stabbed in the hand Wednesday by an unknown assailant in the Smith Bay area, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 12:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in response to a report that a man was seeking medical attention after being stabbed. At the hospital, officers contacted the victim, whose name was not released by police. The man said that while in the area of El Cubano in the Smith Bay area he was approached by a black man who stabbed him to the hand and then fled.

The victim was treated at Schneider’s emergency room, where he received several sutures to the hand along with treatment for his minor injuries.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is following the case and urged anyone with information about the crime to call the VIPD at 340-774-2211, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9801, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
