Man Charged with Robbery

Delano Somersall, 26 of Oswald Harris Court, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was identified as the individual who robbed a woman on the outskirts of Yacht Haven Grande.

The arrest took place at 1:54 p.m. Thursday, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Somersall was charged with third-degree burglary for an incident that took place Sunday on the outskirts of Yacht Haven Grande. According to the report the female victim, whose name was not released by police, had been walking in an easterly direction outside of YHG when a black man approached her from behind and grabbed her backpack. As the man attempted to steal the backpack, he dragged her across the street and struck her once in the stomach.

The suspect then took the backpack and ran into the Paul M. Pearson Gardens Housing Community.
