Woman Dies of Wounds Suffered in Wednesday Shooting

A woman who suffered gunshot wounds in an incident Wednesday died of her injuries Saturday at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The V.I. Police Department identified the woman as 35-year-old Heidi Mills. Her death marks the fourth homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the fifth in the territory.

She died at about 8:08 a.m. Saturday, the second fatality in the shooting incident that took place in the vicinity of Agnes Fancy.

According to police, officers responded to a report of gunfire discharged in Agnes Fancy. At the location they found the body of Stephen Coleman lying prone in the roadway. Mills, who also was lying on the ground, was heard moaning, police said.

Mills sustained a gunshot wound to the head and one to the lower portion of her left leg. She was transported to the hospital for treatment, listed in serious condition, and died Saturday.

Coleman had a gunshot wound to the head and several shots in his upper torso. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to phone the Major Crimes Unit at 340-642-8449, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
