Moses Laronde, a 21-year-old resident of Estate Thomas, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with burglary in connection with a break-in at an Estate Bovoni home, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, a woman, whose name was not released, was resting in her home Wednesday when she heard the sound of breaking glass coming from her bathroom window.
She told police that when she heard the noise she immediately called 911. The emergency dispatchers alerted officers at 12:29 p.m.
Responding officers determined that the suspect entered the eastern window of the residence and had placed several items in a bag while inside. Shortly after the officers arrived, a suspect exited the residence through the window he had broken, police said, and officers were able to capture him.
Police said they identified the arrested man as Laronde. He was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of stolen property and destruction of property.
Bail was set at $71,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
