Police responding to a report of gunfire early Saturday arrested Zebedee Schulterbrandt on unlicensed firearm charges.
According to the V.I. Police Department, officers were notified at roughly 5:07 a.m. of gunfire discharged in Vester Gade, in Savan.
Responding officers converged on the address given by the emergency call center. When the occupant of the residence opened the door, police searched him and found an ammunition magazine in one of his pockets. Officers then asked the man, identified as Schulterbrandt, if they could search the residence, and he gave consent.
The search yielded three firearms with obliterated serial numbers, two bulletproof vests and a large cache of ammunition.
Schulterbrandt, a 36-year-old resident of Savan, was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms. Bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
