Man Shot in Smith Bay

A man was shot once in the leg Tuesday evening in Smith Bay in an apparently unprovoked attack, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the VIPD, officers were alerted at 7:30 p.m. to a report of a gunshot victim seeking treatment for an injury at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The victim, whose name was not released by the police, told officers he’d been hanging out in the area of Lake’s Fry Chicken in Smith Bay when he heard gun shots being fired. He said he immediately got up and ran, but stopped when he noticed blood running down his leg.

The victim was unable to provide police with a description of the suspect who shot him.
