Cecilia V. Rivera Dies at 94

<p><img width=”151″ vspace=”5″ hspace=”8″ height=”200″ align=”left” title=”Cecilia V. Rivera ” alt=”Cecilia V. Rivera ” src=”/files/userfiles/image/cecilia%20rivera.jpg” />Cecilia V. Rivera died on Nov. 30 at her residence in Estate Tutu, St. Thomas. She was 94 years old. <br />
She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Brodhurst-Davis, Leona Valentine Stephens, Janice Leonard and Marcia Valentine; sons-in-law: Lloyd Stephens and Samuel Davis; adopted daughters: Jacqueline Pickering, Judith Molyneaux, Denise Leonard Donadelle and Nerissa Reyes; adopted sons: Dean Leonard, Conute Brodhurst, Peter Williams and Oscar Durant; sister-in-law, Geniva Rivera; granddaughter, Lisa Hodge; grandsons: Donald Rivera Jr., Leonard Stephens, Lloyd Stephens Jr. and Jermaine Jude; grandson-in-law, Lee Hodge; and granddaughters-in-law: Maritza Stephens and Diana Harris. <br />
She is also survived by great-granddaughters:  LaDawna Rivera, Raynesha Chesterfield, Ny&rsquo;Asia Warner, Jahanna Rivera, Nina Fiossi, De&rsquo;Anna Stephens and Sarah Stephens; great-grandsons: Kadeem Hodge, Jamal Hodge, Jakeel Stephens, Kaleel Hodge, Darnel Rivera, Kaden Hodge, Deont&eacute; Stephens and Kaleb Hodge; great-great grandson, Justin J. Smooth; great-great granddaughter,  Jahniah Caines; special goddaughter:, Col. Wistaria J. Joseph; special godson,  Lionel Boschulte Jr.; nephews: Antonio Rivera, Leander Rivera, Leslie &ldquo;Chicken&rdquo; Rivera and Marc Rivera; and great nephews: Paul Rivera, Leslie Rivera, Devon Rivera and Miguel Rivera.<br />
Other survivors include great nieces: Dionne Rivera, and Karrell and Karin Rivera; special friends and family:  Mrs. Althea Taylor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Keno Ruan, Mrs. Katherine Richardson and family, the family of the late Edna Callwood,  Marie Battiste and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Adams and family, Mrs. Sandra Lindo and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Sprauve, Ms. Florinell Joseph, Mrs. Mary Johns and family, the Brodhurst family, the Brown and Reynolds families, and the members of the Catholic Daughters; special cousins: Carmen Lindesay, Wilburn Lindesay and Chester Lindesay; special caregivers: Candice Samuel and Patrice LaMotta; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her son, Donald A. Rivera Sr.; grandson, Lyle Stephens; and special goddaughter, Lydia Boschulte.<br />
The viewing will be held from 8-9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at Celestial Chapel at Hurley Funeral Home. <br />
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at Sts. Peter &amp; Paul Cathedral. Interment will follow at Western Cemetery No. 1.<br />
