Police Investigating Weekend Shooting

The V.I. Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting incident that injured an as-yet-unidentified woman who required emergency surgery.

According to the VIPD, 911 dispatchers received a call from a concerned citizen about 10 p.m. Sunday who reported seeing a woman covered with blood on the Hull Bay roadway.

Officers at the scene discovered the wounded woman, who had sustained an injury from an apparent gunshot to the face. An ambulance was called and she was rushed to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she underwent the surgery.

The age and name of the victim have yet to be determined, police reported.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Unit continue to investigate.
