Sylvia I. Williams Dies at 75

Sylvia I. Williams It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sylvia I. Williams, who died on Monday, July 27, at the Roy Lester Schneider Medical Center. She was 75 years old.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ionie Cole-Leonard; and brother, Silvanus Cole.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Williams; children: Donald G. “Ducks” Cole, Claudette Jacobs-Carr, Adlyn Williams, Dale Williams, Dave Williams and Neal Williams; stepchildren: Deshawn Williams-Petersen, Debbie Herbert, Michael Williams, Marlon Williams and Dennis Williams; sisters: Lorraine Cole Johnson, Marilyn Cole Thomas, Marilyn Jeffers, Gracita Cole-Browne, Zelma Cole Buo, Chefeta Cole Browne, Carolie Cole Pemberton and Patricia Cole; brothers: Clifford Cole and Cecil Farrell; sons-in-law: Steve Carr Sr. and Daniel “Abu” Joseph; daughters-in-law: Cherrie Wallace-Cole, Sonjya Williams and Karen Williams; and sisters-in-law: Dahlia Cole, Marilyn Pemberton, Marilyn Farrell, Eugene Williams, Camilita Williams-Hatcher, Carmen Williams and Louise Williams.
She is also survived by brothers-in-law: Irvin Johnson, Noel “Bobby Leonard, Neville Thomas, Eugenie Williams, Spencer Browne, Sammy Buo, Tony Browne, Clarence Williams, Vernon Williams and Walter Williams; grandchildren: Daniel Cole-Cranston, Nicole Walters, Naq-Quane Cole, Demoré Cole, Dimitri Maduro, Dominique Maduro, Tunesha Phipps, Steve Carr Jr., Maliek Carr, Charnelle Harrigan, Tiffany Harrigan, D’Andra Bryan, Georgio Williams, Zolie Williams, Saniya Williams, Heavin Williams, Georgio Williams, Dave Williams, Damali Williams, Devon Williams and Dillian Williams; and great-grandchildren: Jenai Turner, Zajah, Zanae, Masai, Zayla, and Zaya Knight, Chiara and Chamisha Cole, Nay-Quane Cole, Nemoi Cole, Nayquori Cole, Damani and Dnayla Drinkwater, Joia-Alexis Cranston, Ky’ode Richardson and Ky’Lan DeCastro.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Shirelene Brooks, Andrea, Michael, Colin, Andrian, Sharon, Spencer, Idonna, Clyde, Colin, Paula, Jason, Alecia, Darnel, Chaunelle, Danny, Mark, Nigel, Atum, Kum, Lyndita, Lionel, Derek, La Monte, Elton, Dwight, Mareta, Cecil, Lavern, Abaina, Kiesha, Malcolm, Ebony Brooks, Niehmah Brooks-Gaskin, Gerard, Kenneth, Faith and Rolston; family and friends: the Valaquez family, the Simmonds family, the Farrington family, the Wallace family, Myrtle and family, the Springette family, the Walters family from St. Kitts, the Richards family from Florida, the Maynard family, Beverly Smith-Baron, Gayle Christopher and family, Esmie Callwood, The St. Thomas Orchid Society; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, at Celestial Chapel, Hurley Funeral Home. The second viewing will be at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery in Smith Bay.
