Police Investigate Two Shootings

Two separate shooting incidents occurred on St. Thomas over the weekend, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The first incident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. Friday, according to the police. Officers responded to shots fired in the area of Lindbergh Bay in the proximity of the University of the Virgin Islands.

The victim, a resident of Bordeaux, told officers he was walking in the area when he heard shots and then realized he had been hit. He sustained two gunshot wounds to his body and was taken via ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday officers were notified by 911 dispatchers of a possible gunshot victim in the area of Rainbow Department on Centerline Road in Estate Thomas.

While en route to the scene the officers were flagged down by two black men in the area of Centerline Road,. One of the men said he had been shot in the back while he was sitting in the area of Paul M. Pearson Housing community’s basketball court.

The man was transported the Schneider Regional Medical Center,where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to his back.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating both cases.
