Police Find Runaway Minor

Mariam Batista, the 15-year-old, runaway from St. Thomas was found Wednesday by police on St. Croix, according to the V.I. Police Department, which on Tuesday had requested public help in locating the girl.

Police on St. Thomas issued the notice on the runaway teen Tuesday. At 10 a.m. Wednesday, police on St. Croix found the minor at the Candido Guadeloupe Housing Community in Estate Slob.

She was turned over to the Department of Human Services.

Batista had been last seen May 8 at her residence in Estate Tutu on St. Thomas. In her last contact with her mother she said she was with her boyfriend on St. Croix, but did not give any indication as to who he was or where she was staying.
