Torch Run Kicks Off Special Olympics on Saturday

The 37th Special Olympics Tri-Island Games and Law Enforcement Torch Run is scheduled for Saturday at the Charlotte Amalie High School track. The torch run will leave the Coast Guard Station for the CAHS field at 9 a.m. The games will start at 9:30 a.m.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics and raised more than $42.6 million in 2012. Since its inception in 1981, the run has grown extensively worldwide with 97,000 volunteers raising more than $461 million for the Special Olympics movement across 46 countries.

This is its first run on St. Thomas
